Description

Only his memories can save her…
A great primal power has risen. The Queen of Flesh and Fire has become the Primal of Blood and Bone—the true Primal of Life and Death. And the battle Casteel, Poppy, and their allies have been fighting has only just begun. Gods are awakening across Iliseeum and the mortal realm, readying for the war to come.

But when Poppy falls into stasis, Cas faces the very real possibility that the dire, unexpected consequences of what she is becoming could take her away from him. Cas is given some advice, though—something he plans to cling to as he waits to see her beautiful eyes open once more: Talk to her.

And so, he does. He reminds Poppy how their journey began, revealing things about himself that only Kieran knows in the process. But it’s anybody’s guess what she’ll wake to or exactly how much of the realm and Cas will have changed when she does.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout revisits Poppy and Casteel’s epic love story in the next installment of the Blood and Ash series. But this time, Hawke gets to tell the tale.

Reviews

  • Read it for yourself

I love this series and have enjoyed each book that's come out. However I was tempted to not read this based off a lot of different reviews because "it was the same story as the first book." Yes it is a recounting of the first book, but it's from Cas's perspective. It's character developing. You'll get to know Cas and other characters so much deeper. You are seeing situations develop behind the story Poppy tells and shows us how Cas felt and thought, not just how Poppy assumed he thought and felt. Read it for what it is because you love these charqcters! On top of that the story does get moved a long. Do you want some answers about her dad? Things are set up here. Questions about Malik (sp?) Get to understand him more here. Gosh darn it just read it for yourself! The last 100 pages will have you salivating for the next book to be here, that I can promise.

Easily the worst of her books. I’ve read most and loved them, but this was horrible. Absolutely tedious. I couldn’t get through it. Nothing more than a summery is Casteels point of view. Nothing new. Absolutely not worth $9. Wish Apple Books gave refunds.
  • Didn’t I already read this?

Come on. I’m reading pages and pages of dialogue that I read in book 1. What a lazy money grab.
  • Wasn’t great

It was cool seeing things from Casteel’s POV but having to re-read basically the entire first book? It was boring and came off as lazy. Didn’t seem like they knew where they wanted the story to go so they took a cop-out and just re-told the first book instead of taking more time and coming out with a great 5th book that told something we haven’t already heard.

The book is amazing. I can’t wait for the next book! I’ll be reading the prequel series of this just to get more of an understanding. But I totally recommend this series to anyone who loves ACOTAR. 10/10.
  • A new sexy perspective

It’s rare to read erotic fiction from the male point of view and I loved it. Sure the storyline was one you’ll know, but Cas’s telling is HOT. I enjoyed this book immensely just for the ending alone. When is the next, post-compendium installment?!
  • Not worth the read

Don’t get me wrong I love this series but it’s literally book one in Cas’s perspective and nothing new. If you buy it just read the first chapter and the last.
  • I liked it but it was so uninteresting

Having read the other book from poppy’s perspective and no cas def was slightly annoying but I was Bree rereading what had already happened just from his perspective and I was so excited for what was going to happen after the war and some more relationship stuff between the two after their reunion .

I really had to push a bit only a bit though to keep reading the book as it is basically all the books but in Cas’s POV. The ending had me tragic like the cliffhanger ! I can’t wait for the next book and will e patiently impatient while waiting. I one hundred perfect recommend this series.

Felt like I was reading Book 1 all over again. I kept hoping for more and thought certainly this will wrap up soon and the story will continue, but no, it just left me disappointed.
