Reviews
- Oddities5By math wizardThis is an interesting book. I would place it in a mystery with a paranormal slant. Bobo is the main character and it starts off in the book with Audrey disappearing and then found dead. You will meet a witch, an unusual psychic, a vampire, an unusual minister and some other citizens of Midnight. You will learn about the right wing extremists group looking for some guns supposedly belong to Bobo’s late grandfather. With missing members of the group and plot twists you will find the killer an unexpected person and the resolution for the mysterious guns surprising! Read this unusual book because it was very good and you will enjoy it.
- A fine book for a long quiet day4By SusanBusekI’ve read Charlaine Harris before (her Southern Vampire Mysteries), so when this popped up as a suggestion, I was intrigued, especially when I saw that they’ve made a TV series of the work. Overall, I was pleased by the story and the characters, both of which reminded me of what Stephen King does with small towns (Castle Rock, Derry, etc.). Some of the other reviews complained about the slow pace, but I prefer to think of it as “deliberate.” Ms. Harris is setting up her characters for the long haul and not every secret has been revealed yet. Anyway, I will probably be buying the sequel tonight.
- Disappointed2By 1980AmyThe characters seemed really underdeveloped. I watched the TV series first, so that helped some. Had I read the book first I probably wouldn’t have finished it.
- Midnight Crossroad5By 578:07(8953(82475Well, my dear, you've done it again! Another great start to a series. The characters rich, the story good, and I love the way you have woven characters from other books into this one.
- Midnight crossroad3By Mama DiDiKind of disappointing read. Was excited to see a new book by this author, but honesty this took me a long time to get through it. Definitely not a page turner. Characters were somewhat interesting, but plot was weak and not enough suspense or twists to keep my attention for more than 5-6 pages at a time. I normally read a good book in less than a week and this one took over a month. Sorry.
- Midnight Crossroad4By TriciagpacLooking forward to the world of Midnight continuing! Story and characters got better as the book progressed and I ended the read with a smile.
- Not a fan of this new series1By Mandabearx6I have loved Charlaine Harris books but this one is not a fave. I have been working on it for over a week and I just wish it was over already. It is slow and I just can not connect with the characters. If your expecting a page turner like her previous series you will be sadly disappointed.
- Had a hard time finishing.1By GfoudreeI'm a fan but this was shallow, slow and dull without a point. Did not enjoy this book.
- Midnight Crossroad5By Karatema76Can't wait for the next book in this new series! Loved the characters, the setting, and the plot. The story had an "Odd Thomas" (Dean Koontz) kinda feel to it, which is a very good thing!
- Great read!!!5By TejanograndeOne of the best reads in a long time. Going to be hard waiting for the next in the series. Best set of characters in the best setting ever.
- Interesting new series4By Ehrich GI liked the oddball feel of midnight. I'm going to be curious to see if this series continues without a "real" main character.
- Surprise gem5By 8whispersI'm already looking forward to the next installment of this gentle, pleasurable gem - there must be another in the works, right?
