Description

China: The Middle Country. Controversial. Unpredictable. Vast. Proud. Inconsiderate. How is it really? What are its intentions?

China can be fascinating. It can also be disturbing, shocking and deeply concerning. One thing for sure - it offers plenty of cultural differences, some of which can be hard to take for a western person. Yet, that is what makes China a fascinating destination. And there is an awful lot of beautiful and unique historic spots to explore, to enjoy, to photograph.

This book describes the author’s personal and unique experiences whilst his trip to China in 2009. It contains over 160 original photographs taken during the trip, practical information, description of places to stay, drink, eat and to explore. It covers the following provinces: Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Beijing and Shanxi; and the following places: Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xi’an, the Terracotta Army, Chengdu, Nanjing, Beijing, Mutianyu, Datong, Xuankongsi, Yangxian and Yungang.

“What actually happened in China changed my opinion about this country. Significantly! Having had travelled to over 180 countries on six continents before, made me considerably tolerant about hardships of travel to new destinations. And I always welcome challenge. Yet, China - some meaning hidden in the title, obviously - was not a terribly enjoyable experience. Fortunately, I left Beijing to the last. If what happened in the capital, had occurred at the beginning of the holiday, I might have ended the trip right there.”
