Description

Theoretically, there really is no place too far nowadays. Still, travellers keep on dreaming about going to certain spots on our planet, almost as if it would be impossible to visit them. Me included! As soon as I got rid of a dream to go somewhere by actually going there, another dream was born.

‘World’s End’ is about making one of the dreams come true. The dream was about going to Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Legends about this isolated island, placed in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, thousands of miles from the nearest inhabited spot, stirred the imagination of anthropologists, geologists, oceanographers, historians, and travellers. Actually, going to the bottom of Argentina had also been on the wish list for a few years, particularly the magnificent glaciers, one of which was still advancing.

This book covers a few other places as well, mainly around the Argentinian Patagonia, and the capitals of Chile and Argentina, and Colonia del Sacramento of Uruguay. It describes the author’s personal and unique experiences during his trip. It contains over 130 original photographs taken during the trip, hints and tips, descriptions of places to eat, drink, sleep and socialise with the locals and other travellers. All proceeds from this book go to sponsor education of poor children in West Africa.
