Description

In this #1 New York Times bestseller from the world’s most popular storyteller, a Texas Ranger fights for his life, his freedom, and the town he loves as he investigates his ex-wife's murder.
Across the ranchlands and cities of his home state, Rory Yates's discipline and law enforcement skills have carried him far: from local highway patrolman to the honorable rank of Texas Ranger. He arrives in his hometown to find a horrifying crime scene and a scathing accusation: he is named a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, Anne, a devoted teacher whose only controversial act was ending her marriage to a Ranger.

In search of the killer, Yates plunges into the inferno of the most twisted and violent minds he's ever encountered, vowing to never surrender. That code just might bring him out alive.

This cannot be a James Patterson book. I usually can’t put them down once I start. It is boring, tedious, and not interesting at all. I’m trying to get through it, I’m about halfway through. I will update it if it gets any better but right now I’m just trying to finish it. Ok finished. This was his worst. Will make me think twice about buying another book that he co-writes.

It was hard to determine if this book was murder mystery or a Harlequin romance novel. Rory Yates, ex-football player and now a Texas Ranger cries every other page. The books plot was so boring. I paid for the book so I finished it but it will be a long time before I buy another Patterson novel that he has co-wrote.

I will never read another book by Patterson again. This book was boring. Could have been a bad episode of Walker Texas Ranger.

Absolutely cheesy and lame. The way it’s written is just so cheesy and not realistic or relatable. The ending was beyond predictable. No plot twist that you couldn’t see coming. By far the worst book I’ve read by him.

I have been a fan for 25 years. This didn’t even sound like it was written by the same Patterson I’m used to reading. Seriously disappointing. Don’t bother. Will not be pre-ordering again.

Not the expected depth of characters or rich storytelling I have come to expect... Shallow and Kardashian drama throughout...

Very disappointing read. Not up to Alex Cross standards. Totally figured out the killer as soon as introduced. Felt like I have wasted my money purchasing this book.
  • Not one of his best works

I think it could have been a much better story. Very formulaic. Very superficial. And I guessed the plot line and outcome pretty quickly.
