For Alex Cross, the toughest cases hit close to home-and in this deadly thrill ride, he's trying to solve the most personal mystery of his life.   When his cousin is accused of a heinous crime, Alex Cross returns to his North Carolina hometown for the first time in over three decades. As he tries to prove his cousin's innocence in a town where everyone seems to be on the take, Cross unearths a family secret that forces him to question everything he's ever known.   Chasing a ghost he believed was long dead, Cross gets pulled into a case that has local cops scratching their heads and needing his help: a grisly string of socialite murders. Now he's hot on the trail of both a brutal killer, and the truth about his own past-and the answers he finds might be fatal.

CROSS JUSTICE was terrific. About the "bonus" CROSS KILL, don't bother. James Patterson must have had a deadline or non refundable tickets to use up. He used an epilogue to avoid finishing the book. It was a flimsy trick by an otherwise skillful author. A waste of

Improbable coincidences and amazing revelations at every turn. This book is proof that a complex story line does not automatically translate into a good story. I've been a Patterson fan for many years and this is a big disappointment. Alex Cross acts out of character throughout, driven by emotion, ignoring his skills and experience. I have trouble believing James Patterson provided any more input than a broad story outline.

This is the best Alex Cross book in years. While I enjoy all of them, this one is completely different from the others. In this one, we see Alex and Nana Mama confronting their past lived in North Carolina. We learn a little bit more about Alex's parents and new information comes up throughout that shocks the two (and readers). The twists and the Twins Peak type story makes it hard to put down. I won't give away too much, but in this one book we see this character we've known for twenty years get his background completely flipped.

I love James Patterson but I had gotten a little tired of Alex Cross. I pre-ordered this book as I do all of his but I just couldn't make myself read it. A few days ago I was on a plane and thought I would try it. Wow! I could not put it down. I am a little shocked by the negative reviews. I loved it!!!

What an unmitigated joke, foolish, simplistic, and utterly inconceivable..

What is this book doing on the best seller list? This is more of a poor screenplay for a TV movie. To label it a novel is insulting to other writers. I am truly sorry I wasted my time. I should have discarded it after the poor fantasy of the first chapter.

I loved it. James Patterson has a writing style I love. He writes short chapters with cliff hanger endings so you don't want to stop you have to read on to the next chapter!! His books always keep me on the edge of my seat and this one was no different. In this book we also learn a lot more about Alex Cross and where he came from, which is a long time coming. Well done once again Mr Patterson!!!!!

One of the most boring, slow books I have ever read. I'm a fan of Alex Cross' novels but this missed the mark. Disappointing.

I'm a big fan of all the Alex Cross books. This one however is by far the worst.

I have been a long-time reader of James Patterson's books. I normally do not write a review and only give all books a rating. While I enjoyed the books Patterson co-authored with others writers, I never felt they never totally lived up to the standard and level of belief as compared to the stories Patterson wrote himself. While I feel some liberties may have been taken with legal and police procedures, the rapid turn of events were linked in a way that made them seem plausible, if not a little dramatic. I want the good guys to win over evil for a change with justice prevailing. I enjoyed reading this book and had a hard time putting it down even with the fact that we are unpacking what seems to be a multiplying number of boxes as we are settling into a new house. If the object was to entertain his readers, Patterson did just that for me. CDR Orange, TX

This has to rank among the best of the Alex Cross series I have read, and I have read everyone of them. Great story that had emotional turns that teared me up.

James Patterson has given up on writing anything of substance. His Alex cross escapades are redundant and now end with an political message that is BS and money driven. I thought his writing was entertaining at best but the last 3rd of his book was so predictable that it was tough to read. Finally like a true hack Patterson ends his book with a garbage type of political message that almost makes his story seen readable/ and believable. This is the last money I spend on Cross and Patterson.
