2By RAMJDSwitches between characters often making it difficult to follow the plot. Intentionally misleads the reader apparently to create suspense but only leads to confusion. One of the poorer novels with the Patterson name on it.I want more! ; )

I wanted to try a new genre of book to read and wanted a good murder/suspense type of vibe and even though this did at times pay off in that sense, I found the writing mediocre. The constant corny thoughts this lead character had was mind numbing. The 2 different story lines were both a snooze, not fleshed out in any significant way and ended without any good pay off. I imagine this book is to Detective thrillers as the cheeseball books with Fabio on the cover are to Romance novels. Cheap and thoughtless. I did give it an extra star solely because some people do enjoy these types of easy reads and I guess this is as good as any of those. Or maybe I'm just being too generous with my stars.Great Book

4By Darcie1000I like the character, John O'Hara. He's funny and has a very 'gumshoe' aura around him. In SH, he is a little weaker than in previous books. I liked 'Sarah' as well and she was strong to the end. I thought the book was entertaining but the plot was a bit choppy. I'd give it 3 stars!
