Description

A heart-pounding new series set in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world, about a scientist fighting to save the gray wolves—and getting caught in a deadly trap herself...

Lydia Susi is passionate about protecting wolves in their natural habitat. When a hotel chain develops a tract of land next to the preserve, Lydia is one of the most vocal opponents of the project—and becomes a target.

One night, a shadowy figure threatens Lydia’s life in the forest, and a new hire at the Wolf Study Project comes from out of nowhere to save her. Daniel Joseph is both mysterious, and someone she intrinsically wants to trust. But is he hiding something?

As the stakes get higher, and one of Lydia’s colleagues is murdered, she must decide how far she will go to protect the wolves. Then a shocking revelation about Daniel challenges Lydia’s reality in ways she could never have predicted. Some fates demand courage, while others require even more, with no guarantees. Is she destined to have true love...or will a soul-shattering loss ruin her forever?

Not my favorite book of JR’s but it seems like this series has great potential. It is still engaging and a good, fast paced read.

Once again I’m turning pages like there is no tomorrow. Then I find myself at the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. This goes on repeat until I’m at the end of yet another brilliant novel. Good lord why does it end so quickly. Why can’t I read a couple of chapters and close my book like normal readers…. I’m not normal..I have to see what happens next. To no avail she has me hooked like a bad drug..I refuse book rehab…I can’t and I won’t quit. I’m determined to ride this J.R. Ward train until the wheels fall off…oh and yes, this book is an excellent read.

The story of Lydia and Daniel is intriguing and mystical. Hope many books will be coming in this series to find out more about these characters and how they will be integrated into the Brotherhood. Enjoyed this book, truly. Well done

Have to agree with some of the other reviews I’ve read. This book was not great. I LOVE JR Ward’s writing and the BDB series & off-shoots, Fallen Angels, etc. have all been really good. This one had me scratching my head. Didn’t feel invested in the characters or that I got a true sense of who they are, found the story plodding and confusing at times and kept waiting for it to click. Didn’t happen. Also surprising that in 16+ books set in the BDB world the subject of “Wolven” has never come up and in this book you still learn nothing about them. It connects to Xhex and the BDB so will definitely read the next one but it’s not b/c I feel invested in Lydia or Daniel (the two key characters). Bit of a bummer.
  • Loved this book!

Adored the way the BDB was woven into this book! This is a great mystery as well. Can’t wait for the next one!

Let’s Face it JR Ward has set the bar pretty high. I’m a huge fan of her BDB series, but this book just didn’t do it for me. The slooooooow development of the story was annoying. The romance was pitifully infrequent. I felt like a just read a really long intro to a story. Like you read a book about wolf shifters and you only find out at the end who the shifter is?!?! I have it three stars because it has potential. But honest if it had been written by anyone else I likely would not have finished it.

Huge fan of JR Ward but this one left me wondering who was writing the story. Kept waiting for something to happen but it’s thread after thread going where? Then you reach the end and spoilers….. I’ll still tune in next year to see what happens next…

I’ve read many of other JR Ward books and loved them. This book was really slow and not at all as interesting as the other. I didn’t even finish it.

While JR WARD is my favorite author and the BDB is in my opinion amazing, this new series did not start out strong. It was a difficult read and could have been done better, sadly because the Ward is so amazing I expected more from her work; I do not feel she delivered her best in Claimed. I will still purchase book two of this series to see if it gets better but that will be the deciding factor for me and this series.
