Description
Biloxi’s best criminal defense attorney has never lost a case—then his client’s beautiful wife is murdered, and America’s #1 lawyer suddenly becomes its #1 suspect in this thriller from the world's #1 bestselling author.
Stafford Lee Penney is a small-town lawyer with a big-time reputation for winning every case he tries. In his sharp suits and polished Oxford shoes, Penney is Biloxi, Mississippi’s #1 Lawyer and top local celebrity. Just as Penney notches his latest courtroom victory, his wife is scandalously killed. He spirals into a legal and personal losing streak, damaging his reputation and ruining his career.
That’s when Penney makes a bold decision. He stops trading on his power-lawyer identity and creates a new one: lawyer lifeguard. Moonlighting at the beach, showing up to court in flip-flops, mentoring a law student, the new Penney is at first unrecognizable.
It’s said that a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client. But when Penney is accused of murder, the #1 Lawyer will find a way to triumph.
Reviews
A Good One
4By Scott_A_Miller4 Stars. Typically fun Patterson read. Quick. Grabs you right away. This one had a few nice turns to keep me thinking. My only complaint is that I figured out the final twist too soon. There were others though that held up well. Patterson books feel like summer and it’s almost here. The number one lawyer

5By Scrappy Scrabble ManQuite the journey…the rise and fall and further fall and rise again of a very intriguing lawyer central character with a great supporting cast and some excellent twists and turns. A terrific book that I looked forward to reading each night at bedtime. I highly recommend this one.Hard to believe
3By Garandaddy LawyerPatterson is great but this story is not believable and the post trial antics don’t really relate to the trial story.#1 Lawyer
5By KathyBabePeanutI loved the book a different story line than he usually writes . That’s what made it so great. Patterson is one of my favorite authors. He is right up there with Grisham and Lescroart. Write more books like this one.One of his best
