Dear Asil:
We are worried about you. A werewolf alone is a sad thing, especially at Christmastime. So we have a challenge for you: five dates in three weeks. We have taken the work out of it and connected you with five people from online dating sites. You should also know that we have informed the whole pack and instigated a betting pool. Have fun!
Sincerely,
Your Concerned Friends
Reviews
Fine enough, but left wanting more
3By JS SargentSolid writing and enjoyable characters, but it felt a bit sad that Asil’s story happened so fast it felt underdeveloped (not shocking for a short story, but this seems to be setting up his long term relationship which did not have enough space to breath in a short story). I felt that Anna and Charles’ relationship was better set up in a short story because Briggs took that one slower, whereas this one happened so fast I had to do a double take. It also came out of nowhere, no relationship building, no explanation, just “this girl brought my wolf logic again, yay!”. Very underwhelming delivery of such a major milestone in Asil’s character arc.Blind date with a werewolf
5By ratsawayI wasn’t sure what I was going to get since I’m not a big fan of short stories. I was pleasantly surprised at the clever approach to telling a comprehensive story. I love her books! All Asil all the time
5By DivaTudeAsil has consistently been one of my favorites. A lot of the wolves have tragic stories. You don’t live as long as they have, through the history they’ve lived through and not have trauma. Asil’s story always tore at me. But, I never felt like I got enough of him. Still don’t but these stories definitely helped. An ancient werewolf’s games look very different from the rest of us. I laughed. I pondered. I cheered. The Mercy Thompson universe remains undefeated for me.Why We Read Supernatural Fiction
5By Chief -If you’ve roamed this universe before, you’ll enjoy this story. I sure did. Only the story’s natural breaks let me put it down for annoying real life stuff.Loved it!
5By Green Eyes CTI absolutely loved this story! Asil’s story was written perfectly. There are no coincidences
5By An Mho RioghianI loved this collaboration, and appreciate Patricia Briggs' firm and loving framing of Asil Moreno across every arc. He was a different facet of himself in each story. The last date provides the final, unexpected twist and a very satisfying resolution.
