- This is the most boring riordan book I’ve stumbled across so far2By kelvin 3ugeneFor the first book of a series…this book did not hood me. Idk if it was just to much going on in it, if there were too many characters, or what but I didn’t enjoy it much. Honestly this is the first Rick riot fan book where I have to ponder if Imma continue the series or not As far as characters go…like I said idk if there were just to many characters, if the characters that are in here aren’t needed, aren’t flushed out enough it or if there just not speaking but I can do with about 3/4th of them fine. It’s bad that not even the main character (title character) is appealing enough to me and no where close to my favorite character. In my opinion he would’ve been more appealing with a purpose and stuff going on before he died and we see what leads to his death instead of introducing him as a hinless teenager who dies and then is technically dead on a mission. When you have characters like blitz who’s an elf who just wants to be a fashion designer, or a sword that’s sentient I think there’s no need for it . My favorite characters or characters I wish would have had more were characters that we only get one chapter of (Randolph), Loki (who had me wondering about what he was up to the whole book) even characters like Sam (daughter of Loki and Valkyrie) or gunilla (daughter of thor who frames Sam and is a Valkyrie) that right there in itself is a story that would’ve been better. Sam, gunilla, Loki and thor…have Randolph be like a tutor or mentor like Chiron is in Percy Jackson , . And have the capo be in between everything (he was great) …shoot even hearthstone was good .. a dead dark elf who wants to learn magic..that’s another good angle Plot wise this story missed me too. Now idk if this part comes from my lack of interest in Norse mythology (which isn’t even a lack cause it’s interesting) but it’s just not as high as Greek and Roman, or the fact that it just rubbed me wrong. The whole taking dead people to fight in war rubs me wrong because once u die u should be at rest but ya basically saying I died and when I should finally be able to rest u wanna put me back in turmoil and trauma and pain. The sword plot was wrapped up fast and wasn’t even that good and the whole story is a mislead for the actual story of ragnarok. Essentially it’s a very downgraded version of the Olympian’s series Even the fighting sequences of the story weren’t that bombastic or engaging The story didn’t have lot of character view or exposition of Norse mythology, the sword or ragnarok to me but it was very descriptive of what the characters saw and did There’s no thrill or shock for real because again the character is already dead so at moments when he’s about to die you really don’t care My interest wasn’t there or I wasn’t fully pulled in until the epilogue but Overall i didn’t enjoy this much . Like I said if u lesson some of the plot stuff, add more exposition on Norse mythology, flush out or lessen characters or brought other characters out into the forefront a lil more this would be better for me but this is my least favorite book and series so far by Rick riordan and idk if Imma continue the rest-if I do like I said it’s because of the epilogie But I always would reccomend trials of Apollo and Percy Jackson and the olympians. The heroes of Olympus and Kane chronicles are good too but the first two I mentioned are my favorite (although if u didn’t read heroes of Olympus or atleast do a lil research or summary of it u might be confused when it comes to trials of Apollo even though it’s not that much needed at all u should be good without it )
- Absolutely LOVE!!!5By Coming4urelbowsheheOk so I didn’t read this book online but I have a physical copy and lemme just say a couple things: 1. The characters feel so real that I developed an actual attachment to them, which only happened before this with undertale and deltarune 2. This is a REALLY long book. Like really long. This is good for people like me who dare fluent readers and go through an entire book series in a week 3. Hearthstone. Just Hearthstone (you’ll see what I mean when you meet him). From the start, he’s portrayed as a very likable dude, and Rick absolutely nailed the depiction of Muslim and deaf characters (samirah and hearth respectively). 4. Once you start reading this book, you’ll never be able to put it down. I’ve already decided to give this book to my future kid when that time rolls around. Anyways, what are you waiting for? Stop reading this review and read the book! -FreshEpic!Sans

- Absolutely Amazing.5By 3RiversI read the sampler for this book and I absolutely LOVED it! I won’t buy it on this app, but I will in the real world! ❤️ Thank you for making a wonderful book for our world! The book includes humor, mild language, and it is a story about a poor, homeless child’s death. It’s about how Magnus died. It was honestly kind of heart touching for me. Also I would give money to a homeless person. 🙂 Best of wishes, Mr. Riordan.!
- Very good5By Z book readerMagnus Chase is one of my favorite characters after this book he is simply so relatable. This book was refreshing of course I LOVE Percy but this one was a nice change of pace and I liked the story.Rick has done it again.
- 👍👍5By Rikki TaubRead all of them! (And Percy Jackson, and trials of apollo, and heroes of Olympus.... etc) Great book!! I also watched the Marvel movie, Thor, and it had a lot of Norse god stuff in it so it was funny to find the connection. I also read a book called the Blackwell Pages (Book 1: Loki’s Wolves, Book 2: Odin’s Ravens, Book 3: Thor’s Serpents) and it also had Norse god stuff..... !! It’s always fun to make book connections!
