Description

A perfect family is shattered when their daughter goes missing in this "brilliantly executed" New York Times bestselling thriller from a "master storyteller" (Providence Sunday Journal).
You've lost your daughter. She's addicted to drugs and to an abusive boyfriend. And she's made it clear that she doesn't want to be found.
Then, by chance, you see her playing guitar in Central Park. But she's not the girl you remember. This woman is living on the edge, frightened, and clearly in trouble.
You don't stop to think. You approach her, beg her to come home.
She runs. And you do the only thing a parent can do: you follow her into a dark and dangerous world you never knew existed. Before you know it, both your family and your life are on the line. And in order to protect your daughter from the evils of that world, you must face them head on.

Harlan Coben’s finest work. More twists and turns than a corkscrew. Been with this author since the beginning of his career - he just keeps getting better & better!

Somebody may enjoy this. I couldn’t finish it. Characters from central casting. Touched on most of todays hot button issues. I can’t believe I paid for it.

I'm a long time fan of Harlan Coben's writing and therefore I opened this book with happy anticipation. This was, to say the least, a terrible disappointment. The plot started well with a father's anguish due to a glimpse of a beloved but now addicted, homeless daughter begging in the park and his determination to find where she was holed up and to help her. So many threads that could have been explored and fleshed out into a great novel. Unfortunately, instead Mr. Cohen threw together a bunch of murders, a cult, 25 year old illegal adoptions, together with stereotypical "drug dealer thugs", a "cop" and "p.i." who discovered nothing, assassins in love and supposedly intelligent, successful, well-educated parents who were so bright that they kept walking into the two person drug den unarmed, unprotected, without a plan and without even telling anyone where they were going. None of the characters were developed and the events had little to do with the daughter. The author then added insult to injury by throwing in a summary chapter to wrap up everything since the parent protagonists had not solved a thing. It was just a ridiculous, shallow book that was neither a good mystery nor an examination of the emotional trauma addiction had on a family. Was this supposed to be a script outline or have I always over appreciated this author?

Runaway is a well written book about what a family will go through to save a member of their own. I felt this book was very well written and had a lot of twists and turns in the right directions. I often felt myself being so drawn into the story that I couldn’t wait to finish work and other priorities just so I could come back to it. This is a book that I felt could have been turned into a series... think about it. I’d love to read more.

Conan’s worst book, I am sorry to say. Too many characters, confusing plot, unbelievable secrets. Only made it to the end by skimming. Do not bother buying.

This was a great book. The story had many twists and ended so well. Kept me interested the whole time, I couldn’t put it down. Finished in one weekend. Will read more from this author.

Not what I would call a book with a lot of twist and turns, I expected some really exciting turn of events.

Waste of time, and the last time I will read this author, though I did enjoy some of his early, mostly humorous books. Cartoonish characters, preposterous plot, lame ending. Life is too short!

Once again Harlan Coben outdoes himself. Edge of your seat twists and turns make for a story that you must finish in record time. I am in awe of Mr. Coben,s imagination and his books are worth the wait till the next one is released!

First book I’ve read by this author, I’m not much of a reader in general but have to say...from start to finish I simply couldn’t stop reading. Putting the book down for me...was a cliffhanger of my own creation. Most books take weeks, months, or longer to read because I only read on planes as I travel, this one took 3 days...because I had to know what was next! Phenomenal read!

The book definitely pulled me in and I was hooked within the first couple of pages, but the ending was just too far fetched and I felt as though the fizzled out towards the end of the book. I enjoyed reading it just not one of my favorite HC books.
