Description

“A compelling and original suspense thriller.”—Los Angeles Times

“Harlan Coben is the modern master of the hook-and-twist.”—Dan Brown

For Dr. David Beck, the loss was shattering. And every day for the past eight years, he has relived the horror of what happened. The gleaming lake. The pale moonlight. The piercing screams. The night his wife was taken. The last night he saw her alive.

Everyone tells him it’s time to move on, to forget the past once and for all. But for David Beck, there can be no closure. A message has appeared on his computer, a phrase only he and his dead wife know. Suddenly Beck is taunted with the impossible—that somewhere, somehow, his wife is alive . . . and he’s been warned to tell no one.

This is a great book I can say that I was very interested till the end but, it took me longer to read I didn’t feel so attached to the book to where I couldn’t put it down. I love the plot the twist turns when I would read a couple chapters I felt anxiety & fear for Beck! It took me almost a week and a half to finish it what kind of made me just skim through some pages was the massive detail in how I felt Beck would get distracted and tell a story in very very long detail instead of summarizing to get to the point of why he’s telling it. I kind of got confused with some of the characters but as I kept reading I got the characters down. The ending is just ugh makes you mad lol! Makes you think omg this whole time he’s the reason for people getting hurt! All & all good book but wouldn’t read another title by the author.

Entertaining, yes, but Coben didn’t hit his full stride with this book. Twisty ending- hang on.

Another excellent Coben read! Starts slow, then pulls you in, and you can't put the book down--reading hundreds of pages till you're done

One of my favorite books of all time. First book to capture me to the point where I sat down to read only a couple chapters and within a few hours the book was done. A great read that keeps you on the edge of your seat til the very end. Side note: the book was adapted into a French movie and I know everyone says the book is always better than the movie which is true in this case. But I will say the movie is a very close second and definitely worth checking out, it's currently on Netflix
