Description
In this stunningly twisty thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben, a secret from former Detective Sami Kierce's college days comes back to haunt him. His memory is clear, but all these years later, the facts don’t add up…which is something he cannot ignore.
Sami Kierce, a young college grad backpacking in Spain with friends, wakes up one morning, covered in blood. There’s a knife in his hand. Beside him, the body of his girlfriend. Anna. Dead. He doesn’t know what happened. His screams drown out his thoughts—and then he runs.
Twenty-two years later, Kierce, now a private investigator, is a new father who’s working off his debts by doing low level surveillance jobs and teaching wannabe sleuths at a night school in New York City. One evening, he recognizes a familiar face at the back of the classroom. Anna. It’s unmistakably her. As soon as Kierce makes eye contact with her, she bolts. For Kierce there is no choice. He knows he must find this woman and solve the impossible mystery that has haunted his every waking moment since that terrible day.
His investigation will bring him face-to-face with his past—and prove, after all this time, he’s nobody’s fool.

5By TDaleTGreat job, good story and great characters, so many turns and twists it kept me in knots!!Coben. Enough Said.
5By Scott_A_Miller5 Stars. I like Kierce. I hope we get more of him. Coben was Coben. He’s definitely a great one. This mystery was wonderfully layered while not overly complex. It was right there the whole time but just out of reach. That’s Coben though. Through and through. He even gave some of the bad guy’s heart while ensuring others were pure evil. I hope this makes its way to Netflix, too. I just wish they were all set where they were written. The Kierce here is better than the UK Kierce.Overly contrived plot
1By dominolouis…and its only well into the book that it becomes evident it is a sequel to another. I will not be reading the other! Many unexpected twist and turns!

5By ArtymusicianGreatly enjoyed reading this book!! So many twists and turns, with Sami in search of the truth. This story demonstrated the truth of the saying “Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” Secrets and lies have no end, and looking back 22 years to New Year’s Eve 1999 - so many lives changed forever with tremendous guilt, shame, and sadness never going away. Poor Caroline blaming herself for loving Victoria! Can’t wait for a follow-up with Sami searching for his love child from his sunny days on the Mediterranean in Spain.Such an original story idea and characters

5By CaseyWeimI always enjoy reading Harlan’s books. Even more so now that they are turning into Netflix shows. I hope there is a sequel coming soon that delves into the pregnancy.A stretch
3By phone 8954331890Just a little too casual with the concept of logic. Story lines seem to float around. Really too far off to be plausible.Love to read
