INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
#1 New York Times bestselling author C. J. Box's Treasure State finds Cassie Dewell in Montana on the trail of a con man.
Private Investigator Cassie Dewell’s business is thriving, and her latest case puts her on the hunt for a slippery con man who’s disappeared somewhere in the “treasure state”. A wealthy Florida widow has accused him of absconding with her fortune, and wants Cassie to find him and get it back. The trail takes Cassie to Anaconda, Montana, a quirky former copper mining town that’s the perfect place to reinvent yourself. As the case develops, Cassie begins to wonder if her client is telling her everything.
On top of that, Cassie is also working what's easily one of her strangest assignments ever. A poem that promises buried treasure to one lucky adventurer has led to a cutthroat competition and five deaths among treasure-hunters. But Cassie’s client doesn’t want the treasure. Instead, he claims to be the one who hid the gold and wrote the poem. And he’s hired Cassie to try to find him. Between the two cases, Cassie has her hands full.
In Montana, a killer view can mean more than just the scenery, and Cassie knows much darker things hide behind the picturesque landscape of Big Sky Country. Treasure State, C. J. Box's highly anticipated follow-up to The Bitterroots, is full of more twists and turns than the switchbacks through the Anaconda Range.

5By JPB 9871Another great yarn by CJ Box. We’ll done!Disappointing!
3By Bob852201I’m a loyal fan of Box work…..but, I expected much more in this latest Cassie story. The plot and conclusion were evident early on. Like the most recent Pickett effort, this lacked imagination. Box’s politics came through, too! I wish fiction writers would keep their opinions to themselves. You’ve been warned!Tired of right wing views
1By avidread111Unfortunately CJ is a covidiot so Cassie is too…. Took away the enjoyment that I get when reading books. And once again.
5By DenamnoriNever tire and usually surprised. C. J. Box has kept me busy reading since first coming across “Open Season” in a local writers section at Borders bookstore, sadly gone now, in Billings, Montana. If you enjoy a great story that also reveals the good side of rural living and not so good side of local and federal bureaucracy you should like “Treasure State”.A-
5By F.MagaryGood suspense, with the very likeable Cassie D. I'd put this one as a better than average CJB. Good background on Montana, if you don't know much about the state.Excellent
5By good story 123Excellent storyTreasure State
5By TXAGGIE83Liked how it brought April into the story. At under 300 pages, it is a very short read, and realistically it should be priced accordingly. Cassie’s character is worthy of a longer story line. I’m a dedicated C.J. Box fan and I’ve read all his books and can’t wait for the next Pickett release, so I feel I can pass on this critique.a
