Don’t miss the JOE PICKETT series—now streaming on Paramount+
Joe Pickett’s pursuit of a killer through the rugged mountains of Wyoming takes a horrifying turn when his beloved foster daughter is kidnapped in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.
It's an hour away from darkness, a bitter winter storm is raging, and Joe Pickett is deep in the forest edging Battle Mountain, shotgun in his left hand, his truck's detached steering wheel handcuffed to his right—and Lamar Gardiner's arrow-riddled corpse splayed against the tree in front of him. Lamar's murder and the sudden onslaught of the snowstorm warn: Get off the mountain. But Joe knows this episode is far from over. And when his own daughter gets caught up in his hunt for the killer, Joe will stop at nothing to get her back...

Sad but a good story
4By RLOMDThe story is always good, but this one was very sad. It rang true, unfortunately. There is still violence in these stories, and it is getting to be too much for me. I understood it but I didn’t like seeing Joe’s character become darker. And I know it is a little thing, but I wish Joe had just thought Lucy looked cute in her fancy clothes and was happy she was having fun with her grandmother instead of thinking it was stupid. I don’t like the mother- in law , but it would have been a nice gesture for his girlie girl child. And why does the career woman have to be cartoonishly crazy and evil? The only exemplary woman of note in these stories gave up on her initial dreams to fit into a man’s dream. Saying that, I still like Joe but the violence is getting worse and I think this will be the last story for me.Winterkoll. C.J. Box
5By Wet againWyoming game warden Joe Pickett had arrested Lamar Gardiner the district supervisor for the Twelve Sleep National Forest for firing into a herd of elk killing seven. He had escaped custody from Joe’s vehicle and had run into the forest. Joe finds him pinned Ito a tree with two arrows that had passed through his body and were now embedded into the tree. What then ensues is a tale of corruption, and heartbreak. An excellent read, my highest recommendation.Enjoyed immensely!!Great title.
5By Dip stick. As typical Joe Pickett keeps your attention through out, story line is great and unpredictable. Great book.Feds get busted here for being out of control…
5By ussmidwayI like the rough takedown of the corrupt federal bureaucracy that is the backdrop for the plot. Feels like the author really knows how dumb and dangerous the Feds can be when they have internal agendas driving policies they implement. Great read…Winterkill
