Don’t miss the JOE PICKETT series—now streaming on Paramount+

Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett hunts a mass murderer in Yellowstone in this thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author C.J. Box.

Joe Pickett’s been hired to investigate one of the most cold-blooded mass killings in Wyoming history. Attorney Clay McCann admitted to slaughtering four campers in a back-country corner of Yellowstone National Park—a “free-fire” zone with no residents or jurisdiction. In this remote fifty-square-mile stretch a man can literally get away with murder. Now McCann’s a free man, and Pickett’s about to discover his motive—one buried in Yellowstone’s rugged terrain, and as dangerous as the man who wants to keep it hidden.

To begin, a truly outstanding read!!!! Joe Pickett recently fired from his job as a Wyoming game warden has been working on his father in laws ranch when he is contacted by the governors office and offered a job and a relocation to Yellowstone national park to investigate the murders of park employees by an attorney who was not prosecuted due to a jurisdictional clause in the parks bylaws. What unfolds are layers of deceit , betrayal by park rangers, the governors chief aide and all for the oldest motivator in history….money. This fantastic read has my highest recommendation!! Enjoyed immensely!!

Absolutely the BEST novel of CJ Box I’ve read, and that group includes over twenty novels. Can’t wait to return to Yellowstone, and thus time with far greater awe of its’ uniqueness and appreciation of its’ role upon planet Earth. CJ, please keep’m coming! Thank you

As promised, another suspense thriller wrapped with unexpected twists and turns in the beautiful setting of Yellowstone National Forest. C.J Box puts the reader smack dab in the middle of breathe taking views of a National Treasure. As always, Joe Pickett series are not only fun to read, but educational as well.

Very suspenseful. Holds your attention very well. Somewhat disappointed in the ending. Left too many things hanging.

Not even through with the book and I'm dying to write a review. I have always Loved C. J. Box books but by golly of I wanted to read an encyclopedia on geysers that's what I would do. This book is SUPER boring from the details about Yellowstone national park. Please stick to the story Mr Box. I feel like I wasted my money. I read for entertainment if I wanted to be an expert in a field I'd be in college. One more like this and I want take another chance on his junk
