An intense tale of love and loyalty set against the backdrop of endless summer island life from bestselling and beloved author Elin Hilderbrand.
Greg and Tess MacAvoy are one of four prominent couples who count each other as best friends. As pillars of their close-knit community, the MacAvoys, Kapenashes, Drakes, and Wheelers are important to their friends and neighbors, and especially to each other. But just before the beginning of another idyllic summer, Greg and Tess are killed when their boat capsizes during an anniversary sail. As the warm weather approaches and the island mourns their loss, nothing can prepare the MacAvoy's closest friends for what will be revealed.
Just started4By Lover1545The beginning of the book is very interesting, but does the ending become a murder mystery or accidental??
Wonderful4By Trish th DishA great easy read, that allows you to escape and embrace the adventures in this charming book.
Just ok, a lot of run up for a "ehhh" ending3By Spiegels momStory was fair, ending was mediocre , I thought the ending should have been a little more dramatic , there was a whole lot of run up to it and then......not much., I wouldnt recommend it, but I wouldn't say don't read it. Characters were just ok, sometimes hard to follow who was who, which ones were married to each other, etc... Just 3 stars.
The castaway5By Kws yenThis book is unique in the sense that the author let you into each individual's thoughts. I love how you get the feel of how they all get to tell their story and the connection they have with one another. It's heartwarming & so humanly touching in a way that you feel connected to each characters.
Castaways5By KaththomWonderful, marvelous book --read during a summer when my best friend died unexpectedly. The book was actually healing, restorative. I highly recommend it!
A bit confusing3By Sweetfeet56I had a hard time following all of the characters in this book. It was confusion who was with who...I recently read The Island The Blue Bistro and enjoyed these books much more than The Castaways. Maybe because the book was just so sad.
Meh.3By mesquaredI was reeled by the initial bomb drop of a mystery at the very beginning, but page after page of some fairly annoying main characters, I was disappointed how it all came together in the end. I wasn't expecting a suspense thriller or anything like that, but it didn't much care for the book overall.
