By Elin Hilderbrand
The "queen of the summer novel" explores the power of community, family, and honesty-and proves that even from the ashes of sorrow new love can take flight (Kirkus Reviews).
A warm June evening, a local tradition: the students of Nantucket High have gathered for a bonfire on the beach. What begins as a graduation night celebration ends in tragedy after a horrible car crash leaves the driver, Penny Alistair, dead, and her twin brother in a coma. The other passengers, Penny's boyfriend, Jake, and her friend Demeter, are physically unhurt--but the emotional damage is overwhelming. Questions linger about what happened before Penny took the wheel.
As summer unfolds, startling truths are revealed about the survivors and their parents, the secrets kept, promises broken, and hearts betrayed.
Boring!!!2By SS blue skyI started this book months ago and just finished it a couple of days ago. It was one of the most boring and drawn out books that I have ever read!!! The characters were pathetic and way too much time dedicated to each one. Do not waste your money on this one!!!
Live5By Hhoops13Could't put it down...
Wonderful!5By HikerNanaI would say that this is my favorite of the 3 I have read by this author. The characters were memorable and well-described. I loved it, and I had to keep reading! Great ending!!
Loved it!5By P&S momAs with all of Elin Hilderbrand's novels, this one owned me from page one. Living not too far away from Nantucket, I love the familiar places mentioned as well as the rich relationships among the characters. At the end of each novel I declare that one my favorite!
Summerland2By Rory54321This was a tedious read! I wold not recommend it.
Summer land4By Nantucket WhalerWow, this was a book I couldn't put down. I love how she writes about Nantucket. I graduated from nantucket many moons ago. It was a great read! I love this author!!
Summer land3By joge12Loved all of her other books, but this seems to lack something. Halfway through and I could take it or leave it. Love reading about Nantucket, but am a little bored with this.
I have read all of your books!5By Elizabeth BovaI think one is better than the next- you are a terrific author.
A great read5By HoffmansrcA great summer read. One of her best.
I loved this book!5By CocoancookiesElin Hilderbrand made me fall in love with Nantucket in Summerland. The author has such a beautiful way with words. I grasped onto every detail... it was of those books that you read carefully and savor each page because you never want it to end. Also, each character was so developed that they became real to me. This was my first novel from this author and I'm looking forward to my next! I highly recommend this to adults and older women. Not so much a book for teens only because I think they are yearning for a bit more drama and romance than what this book entails. I loved it! I only wish there was a sequel!
