Description
The beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author brings her Nantucket novels to a brilliant finish: when rich strangers move to the island, social mayhem—and a possible murder follow. Can Nantucket’s best locals save the day, and their way of life?
Chief of Police Ed Kapenash is about to retire. Blond Sharon is going through a divorce. But when a 22-million-dollar summer home is purchased by the mysterious Richardsons—how did they make their money, exactly?—Ed, Sharon, and everyone in the community are swept up in high drama. The Richardsons throw lavish parties, flirt with multiple locals, flaunt their wealth with not one but two yachts, and raise impossible hopes of everyone they meet. When their house burns to the ground and their most essential employee goes missing, the entire island is up in arms.
The last of Elin Hilderbrand's bestselling Nantucket novels, Swan Song is a propulsive medley of glittering gatherings, sun-soaked drama, wisdom and heart, featuring the return of some of her most beloved characters, including, most importantly, the beautiful and timeless island of Nantucket itself.

4By SteelerGirl88Great characters; interconnected drama, so easy to read like all her booksThe title is perfect
5By Willybird47I’ve read all of her books. I’ve truly enjoyed each one and loved several. Swan Song is one that I loved and think it was a perfect way to “wrap” all the wonderful Nantucket stories with a beautiful ribbon. Not a chick book ..
5By Skindoggy09My wife thought I was reading “summer beach chick book”…but I was immediately captivated by the mystery and complex cast of characters right out of the gates. Highly recommend !Good Book Bad ending
3By AndrealynnstuartfarrisThe ending seemed like she just decided not to finish writing the book. DisappointingGreat summer read
5By kris10taylorrCouldn’t put it downA great book
5By jhyncikGreat read !!!!Perfect beach read
5By KalebbnDelightful summer read. This is the first Hilderbrand book I’ve read. I heard her interview on the NYT book podcast. She was so fun to listen to I figured I’d read the latest. Even though I’m sure there were little things I missed because I hadn’t read the others, I didn’t feel it at all. It was a wonderful read.Didn’t like the ending
4By amya219I liked the book. It seemed like characters from her other books were weaved in and out, however the story itself seemed superficial. The storyline was all over the place and to have it end with a death was dissapointing.Must read!
5By Roho822This final novel was splendid! I couldn’t put it down. Thanks EH for giving me vacations to Nantucket through your books! This just might be my favorite.Huge long devoted fan but disappointed
4By kaykaybean13Elin Hildebrand has been one of my very favorite writers, who’s always left me with such an absolute sense of wonder, contentment and pleasure after having had the pleasure of immersing myself in her brilliantly crafted and talented work for years she’s been enabling my guiltiest healthiest pleasure of reading yet this book, aptly named Swan Song is said to be her very last. However, it was my misunderstanding that last year the book she released and I had personally signed by her was thought to be her very last and I far more enjoyed that novel than I did this one. I feel it fell short in its entirety particularly in some of Nantucket’s most beloved characters leaving them with disingenuous and dismissive positions to take their rightful place, reminding us why we may love them or love to dislike them and give them the opportunity to make their very last act one that they deserved and that would be remembered and true to their characters complex and dynamic nature. I missed the mentioning of music in which always seemed to make the scenes feel more in depth and kept our attention and emotions flowing with the characters as they experienced their own emotional reactions. While there were some well known single songs mentioned, they just seemed to miss the mark that the previous ones paired with scenes had driven out feelings that were more than just a fleeting moment but was so on par with the circumstances in which she paired the particular song with it took our hearts and our vulnerability to a place we once felt as younger adults or back to a place where we’d experienced something similar reminding us that a simple song can bring us right back to the very moment of when we heard it who we were with, the sights smells sounds and the feelings we were grappling with. Elin had a gift for style, design, exemplary taste in her music and a deep appreciation for her fellow aesthetes and their commonalities in sharing their natural true love for the beautiful and the natural awestriking stunning backdrop of which this world has always had an abundance of if only we paid attention to it more closely and learned to be grateful for the freedom of such miraculous wonderment surrounding us all.Rough start
2By HjtiltonHard to get into and slow to startMeh
3By Albd1988Not her best work, entreating enough. The ending was the worst part tho 😔Beautiful
5By Patty H.I truly love this book!Swan Song
3By Ciham7824My least favorite book by this author. Scattered and discombobulated storylines that did not tie together well at all. I am sorry that the author’s charming Nantucket stories ended this way - arson and death and prison, oh my! I also did not appreciate the author’s reading of the final chapter. It disrupted the ending and is not an audiobook voice.
