Description

Meredith Martin Delinn just lost everything: her friends, her homes, her social standing because her husband Freddy cheated rich investors out of billions of dollars.

Desperate and facing homelessness, Meredith receives a call from her old best friend, Constance Flute. Connie's had recent worries of her own, and the two depart for a summer on Nantucket in an attempt to heal. But the island can't offer complete escape, and they're plagued by new and old troubles alike. When Connie's brother Toby — Meredith's high school boyfriend — arrives, Meredith must reconcile the differences between the life she is leading and the life she could have had.

Set against the backdrop of a Nantucket summer, Elin Hilderbrand delivers a suspenseful story of the power of friendship, the pull of love, and the beauty of forgiveness.

“Clearly the Madoff family inspired this plot, but Hilderbrand gives it her own sun-kissed, optimistic spin — which is not to say it’s all Rosa rugosa, just that there’s a silver lining to the ugliest of circumstances.” —Elisabeth Egan, New York Times

I loved the reality of two long time friends coming together in times of trouble. Forgiveness is a big theme which resonates in many ways. Above all, the Nantucket setting is beautiful and romantic, perfect for reading during a rainy winter!

Awesome story. Erin Hildebrand's stories are NOT boring. They are imaginative and very interesting. I sometimes feel like I am someone within her storyline. Silver Girl I'll is one of those. Even though the basic plot is familiar, the rest of the story's is unique.

New author for me and I read this one in 1 day. Typical story lines but well written, taken from the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme and the resulting destruction of his family, but well written. I love chic lit about old friends and family relationships, esp those considered ‘beach reads’ and I will purchase this author again in the future.

I love the way she really describes every aspect of her characters so you really feel for them. She has a wonderful way of weaving the characters and story together.
