Description
Lucas Davenport tracks a prolific serial killer in this nail-biting #1 New York Times-bestseller from John Sandford.
Clayton Deese looks like a small-time criminal, muscle for hire when his loan shark boss needs to teach someone a lesson. Now, seven months after a job that went south and landed him in jail, Deese has skipped out on bail, and the U.S. Marshals come looking for him. They don't much care about a low-level guy--it's his boss they want--but Deese might be their best chance to bring down the whole operation.
Then, they step onto a dirt trail behind Deese's rural Louisiana cabin and find a jungle full of graves.
Now Lucas Davenport is on the trail of a serial killer who has been operating for years without notice. His quarry is ruthless, and--as Davenport will come to find--full of surprises . . .

1By HalleyjThe most boring book of all the “Prey” books. It started out interesting then all it was for the next 250 pages.....cornered the bad guys, had a shootout and lost them, followed by cornered the bad guys, had shootout then lost them, followed by cornered the bad guys, had a shootout then lost them. At page 323 I finally just skipped to the end.Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Book!
1By Roma27Not sure how it’s earned 4 stars. I’ve read most of John Sandford’s books and they’ve all been decent to good and I always look forward to the next one. This one, however, has no redeeming qualities. Was it really written by Sandford or one of his children? This is not a book written by a seasoned, experienced, talented writer. The characters are supposed to be la-creme-de-la-creme in their fields, yet they were presented as bumbling fools with mistakes at every turn. It was so bad that I was having secondhand embarrassment for FICTIONAL characters. And at the risk of providing spoilers, some non-consensual sexual acts were just gratuitous, overly graphic and unnecessary to the plot. Possibly worst book I’ve read in a long time.Neon prey
5By yuipipThis is my first review of a John Sanford book. I gave this 5 stars even though this was not my favorite of his books. I just felt there were too many mishaps. I love the characters of Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers. Can’t wait until a new one of these books come out. I just had a hard time getting into Neon Prey. Considering the way this one ended I’m looking forward to the next one.So disappointing!
1By BigskyroseNever thought I’d rate a John Sandford book this low. He seems to have joined the James Patterson club that throws together a bunch of scenes and then puts them into book form whether they make sense or not. Particularly shameful are the nonchalant inclusion of rape scenes that seem incidental and that are quickly glossed over, only to have the victim killed by a female who does so totally out of character! Shame, shame, shame on Mr. Sandford! I know I’m only one reader, but I’ve read my last “Prey” book.First one that bored me
3By saywhat????Read them all but found this to be pretty dull.Time to Stop
2By Discerning ReaderIt is time for Lucas to retire, I have read all the Prey Books, they are now silly and sophomoric. Won’t read another, such a waste of my time.Great

3By luvme some readsI think I’ve read every book in this series the Davenport and the flowers books, I have to say that they just don’t seem as good anymoreGood book but....
3By AnnyminnieEnjoyable as always, however, the formatting of this iBook was horrible! Several times, sections of the book were repeated. You would turn the page only to find a blank page for no reason. Four typos and misspellings, that I noticed. Very disappointing for the price.Neon Prey
5By PushpushStableI exhausted my list of superlatives on John Sanford books. I swear each one is the best ever, only to amend that when the next is released.Neon Prey
5By KnightsbaneWell paced read. Lots of excitement and one unpunished character to haunt Davenport. Enjoyed the tidbits about Lucas’ kids. Wish the author would develop Weather’s character more.Doo doo
