Description
Letty Davenport, the brilliant and tenacious adopted daughter of Lucas Davenport, takes the investigative reins in the newest thriller from #1 bestselling author John Sandford.
“Sandford fans rejoice! Davenport next generation has arrived and Letty is exactly the kind of cool-eyed, smart-mouthed, lethally dangerous heroine we’ve been waiting for.” --Lisa Gardner, author of One Step Too Far
By age twenty-four, Letty Davenport has seen more action and uncovered more secrets than many law enforcement professionals. Now a recent Stanford grad with a master’s in economics, she’s restless and bored in a desk job for U.S. Senator Colles. Letty’s ready to quit, but her skills have impressed Colles, and he offers her a carrot: feet-on-the-ground investigative work, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security.
Several oil companies in Texas have reported thefts of crude, Colles tells her. He isn’t so much concerned with the oil as he is with the money: who is selling the oil, and what are they doing with the profits? Rumor has it that a fairly ugly militia group might be involved. Colles wants to know if the money is going to them, and if so, what they’re planning.
Letty is partnered with a DHS investigator, John Kaiser, and they head to Texas. When the case quicky turns deadly, they know they’re on the track of something bigger. The militia group has set in motion an explosive plan . . . and the clock is ticking down.
Reviews
WOW,Wow,wow!!! Lettie is all grown up!
5By rdhcschultzSometimes you read a story and just wonder what happens next in the “life” of a character. I’ve been reading John Sanford for many years and I feel like I’ve watched this main character grow up and develop into her own person. This book didn’t let me down a bit! Another great book with characters we can connect with. Awesome work!Letty
5By haz531This is my new favorite Sanford series!!!The Investigator
3By JoanabakeI liked this book even though it was pretty formulaic. It was good to have main characters who were not police or feds. I found the militia part of the story disturbing as it showed the lengths these people are going to to destroy this country.Great read
5By The Wild FiendI throughly enjoyed this book and hated to see it end. Sandford does not disappoint and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.Fast moving!
5By Andrea n donLoved this book, already purchased next in series! The writing style still perseveres in the fast paced story telling!Sad
2By FormfreeMaybe, just maybe if this was set in the 1950s it would be slightly plausible. It’s sad the first Letty Davenport novel had to be this ridiculous. One of Sandford’s best!
5By JBT7088A great page turner and a must read!Great Book!
5By DenverTwinI really like Letty as a main character. She is intelligent and tough, just as she was when she was first introduced to the series. I loved her confidence. I had a hard time putting this down. For those few who complained that Letty didn’t talk like a girl, pull your head out! Her character had a rough life from a very early age! I have 6 female friends who are in law enforcement. I believe this book portrays women in law enforcement very well. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!A good one
4By 58spdstrFast paced, factual descriptions and believable story. Hard to put down!Introduction to LETTY
