Description
The homicide cop with a passion for justice returns in the captivating crime thriller series by the #1 New York Times bestselling author.
It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, a celebrity couple who’d conquered both Hollywood and Broadway. And now Eve Dallas has made her entrance—but not as a guest. After raising a toast, Fitzhugh fell to the floor and died, with physical symptoms pointing to cyanide, and the police have crashed the party.
From all accounts, he wasn’t the kind of star who made enemies. Everyone loved him—even his ex-wife. And since the champagne cocktail that killed him was originally intended for Eliza, it’s possible she was the real target, with a recently fired assistant, a bitter rival, and an obsessed fan in the picture. With so many attendees, staff, and servers, Eve has her work cut out determining who committed murder in the middle of the crowd—and what was their motivation. As one who’s not fond of the spotlight herself, she dreads the media circus surrounding a case like this. All she wants is to figure out who’s truly innocent, and who’s only acting that way…
Reviews
Good
4By Nancie820Starts slow, after way too many details it finally gets goodPoison is a Killer
3By LakewacoMaybe not her best, but an intriguing story with several possible suspects. Not as much interaction with her very rich husband. Interesting how the case turns after the suspect is identified. Always need to close all the loopholes.OK but not as good as the others.
3By JW-GIt’s a good book but not as good most of the others. I’ve read all the rest. Of the JD ROBB books and this was not as suspenseful.Love this murder cop and her stories
5By JK267I thought I figured it out, then thought I was wrong, then found out I was right. What a convoluted mess this was with all the different players. And as usual, Eve and crew never disappoint. This is one of the best with all the recurring characters and new mysteries to solve.5 stars
5By ISacksGreat read, as always. Finally gets there
3By The Big FiveThe murder happens in the first chapter. It takes too long with too little excitement to get to the real story. The end wraps up well. There are a lot of characters and it is a bit hard to keep them straight.Great detective story.
5By bcatsThis was a pure detective story. No side characters, no Eve and Rourke play, no future tech tools, just the well crafted mystery with Eve and Peabody working it.Formulaic Eve Dallas
3By ChilequileNo big surprises here. It’s good but just a rehashing of the other “Death” books. Formulaic. Just don’t know why Nora insists on writing these books as set in the future. References to “vids” (movies) and “links” (cell phones) are more than a little corny.Oops!
4By Severma22Chapter 3. McNab says stalker out in 3. - 6 paragraphs later Eve said check if he’s still in. So far excellent as expected.Appreciation
5By eenerkLove that the author after all the books still actually tells a story worth reading. Thank you
