Unpopular at school and subjected to her mother's religious fanaticism at home, Carrie White does not have it easy. But while she may be picked on by her classmates, she has a gift she's kept secret since she was a little girl: she can move things with her mind. Doors lock. Candles fall. Her ability has been both a power and a problem. And when she finds herself the recipient of a sudden act of kindness, Carrie feels like she's finally been given a chance to be normal. She hopes that the nightmare of her classmates' vicious taunts is over . . . but an unexpected and cruel prank turns her gift into a weapon of horror so destructive that the town may never recover.
Reviews
Classic King
5By Kai reads KingMy only real gripe with this book is that it’s too short. I feel like the major conflict we read about in this novel is terrifying and sinister yes, but with a deeper backstory and a larger dive into the mind and life of Carrie White, we may have felt it on an even stronger emotional level. Regardless, this book was phenomenal. Truly a “need to read” in this day and age by mature audiences.I love the book and the movie

5By FIfA Player SDWhat can I say that hasn’t been said about Stephen King? I may be late to read his first novel, but Im just glad I did because it is a horror masterpiece and the style he uses makes it even better. Just what I love.I would’ve had so much more respect if he would’ve just stopped after this…
4By Jim's Asus LaptopAfter this, it just all started to go downhill. I mean this was a good book, a better movie though, and imagine all the trees we would’ve saved if you would’ve just stopped writing after this.Excellent
5By DblskoopExcellent - one of King’s best - short but riveting - wowCarrie
5By #Dungda8Great novel. However heartbreaking and especially sad at the end. Plenty of tension throughout, and despite its length it proves to have better development than longer novels.Loved it
5By loganessmomaAmazing book.Carrie
5By jackiejacktorranceFantastic read! Very recommended for high school horror fans, you will not be able to put it down! Can’t believe this is King’s first work, it’s absolutely amazing in every way.Bittersweet
5By maxxdeckardI found it way better than any movie depiction. It was very heartbreaking because it reminds me of the bullying I endured as a child into my teen years. I felt relief for her in the very end. Wonderfully written.A classic
5By Fink CannerAmazing, well-written book from King. Would definitely recommend for fans of the horror genre or of Kings’ previous work.Perfect starter horror
5By Handsome MikesJust scary enough to keep you on your toes great character depth and actually a pretty impressive character arch and carries mom is the perfect villain she’s so easy to hate very relatable storyBad
1By odkdsikcThis is stupid mediocreIf you liked the movie, you’ll love the book!
5By ES the horror fanWhen it comes to the film adaptations of Stephen King’s debut novel, I loved the horror classic starring Sissy Spacek and TV movie remake, with Angela Bettis. Still, neither of them can top the book! The revenge scene at the prom is better, and more effective, in the movies; otherwise, the book is a terrifying, tragic tale of high school bullying and its repercussions that’s hard to beat!Skip the Movies.
5By OzcromeI can’t totally disparage the movies, especially the original. I, like so many others, enjoyed it very much. But as usual, it omitted so many points that are necessary to the plot and which only the book can reveal. If you are a fan of the movie, do yourself a favor and read the book soon. Why the audio book like 5x more than this. (Smh)
