WINNER OF THE 2015 EDGAR AWARD FOR BEST NOVEL
#1 New York Times bestseller! In a high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely heroes Stephen King has ever created try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands. “Mr. Mercedes is a rich, resonant, exceptionally readable accomplishment by a man who can write in whatever genre he chooses” (The Washington Post).
In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes.
In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the “perk” and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy.
Brady Hartsfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again. Only Bill Hodges, with two new, unusual allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.
Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

It’s like being the hero and the anti hero in 1
5By MrderikkWhat I loved about this book that it not only introduces characters in a well thought out way but it also makes you have their thought process. This Thrilling book with a Serial Killer, Love, Thriller is one I will keep on recommending for anyone that wants to get into a detective genre. Im so happy I got to read this.Ok but missing the secret ingredient
3By ShimonbdI love Stephen king a lot This story seems different, more of a regular detective story missing the Stephen king special ingredient … Having said that, it is an ok detective bookMr Mercedes an unexpected good Ride,I mean Read.
4By Lancer 826Good detective murder mystery storytelling by the horror master. Pretty fast page turner. Good introduction and background for characters that appear in Holly( which I read first). King is so known for horror but this crime solving sleuth genre he seems very good at also.Still the King
5By Weez24This was first Stephen King book I’ve read in years. After taking a break from reading all together I picked back up and started with this book and was hooked from the first chapter. I just love his writing and while reading I remembered why I loved reading so much and didn’t realize how much I missed it. Now I’m hooked on books again lol.Good Chatacterizations
3By v-j-weedKing builds these characters, albeit, none are super believable. This story is too long and loses steam. Will try next in the series to see if he tightens things up now that groundwork is laid -:knowing King though I doubt that will be the case.Mr. Mercedes
5By caus12WOW! Gorgeous story telling, funny, and very engaging. I really liked the different perspectives of Bill and Brady +the connecting spontaneous flash backs. Great read.Great story
5By Loli-nonnaKing takes his time developing the characters. This story was like a roller coaster for me. The coaster climbs as King builds the characters and then it moves so fast you can’t stop reading and you don’t want it to stop. Great Story!Boring
1By Mwg87Stopped reading, disliked all the charactersKing is old; Long live King.
2By Jory ColvinThis is not his best work. Not his top ten. This is really really close to the bottom. Well written but the storyline couldn’t keep my attention.Terrible Formatting
1By 13lainThis review is for the terrible formatting by Apple. The chapters don’t line up with what’s being read. Seems an easy fix Apple is unwilling to make… several titles suffer the same problem.
