WINNER OF THE 2015 EDGAR AWARD FOR BEST NOVEL
#1 New York Times bestseller! In a high-suspense race against time, three of the most unlikely heroes Stephen King has ever created try to stop a lone killer from blowing up thousands. “Mr. Mercedes is a rich, resonant, exceptionally readable accomplishment by a man who can write in whatever genre he chooses” (The Washington Post).
In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes.
In another part of town, months later, a retired cop named Bill Hodges is still haunted by the unsolved crime. When he gets a crazed letter from someone who self-identifies as the “perk” and threatens an even more diabolical attack, Hodges wakes up from his depressed and vacant retirement, hell-bent on preventing another tragedy.
Brady Hartsfield lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born. He loved the feel of death under the wheels of the Mercedes, and he wants that rush again. Only Bill Hodges, with two new, unusual allies, can apprehend the killer before he strikes again. And they have no time to lose, because Brady’s next mission, if it succeeds, will kill or maim thousands.
Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.
Reviews
Terrible Formatting
1By 13lainThis review is for the terrible formatting by Apple. The chapters don’t line up with what’s being read. Seems an easy fix Apple is unwilling to make… several titles suffer the same problem.Love the adventure!
5By California Girl 65I was introduced to Stephen King by a very good friend, and the book was “Pet Cemetery”. I love the way Mr. King gets you hooked and you feel like you are one of the characters. Thank you Stephen King for all the adventures you have taken me on.Extremely Read Worthy!!
5By Meems3Even though I saw the TV Mini series first, to read it was Excellent!!! I understand more of what I saw and the dots and details I missed, …this was DEFINITELY worth the read!!Great Mystery

5By MosaadAlomarOutstanding!!Mr. Mercedes
4By Littledc3Excellent S King book. Great thriller and the boogeyman is alive. Maybe even worse.Tedious
1By FreethinkerXTedious, at best.Good But Not SK’s Best
3By Section 60Most of the interesting action occurs in the 1st 3rd of the story. Entertaining and unusual characters are unveiled in a “Cat and Mouse” theme and the roles are constantly reversing leading to page turning to find out what happens next. Once the major premise is revealed the book becomes more narrowly focused in somewhat of a computer/digital age struggle between the heroes and the villains.Couldn’t Put It Down
5By ArchaeornithomimusSmoothly written. I loved reading both sides of Hodges and the villain. Watching the two sides individual stories until they collided was an excellent way to tell the story.Great!
5By cushy32Just loved it! Can’t wait to read the next one!
