Description
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In a crowded courtroom in Mississippi, a jury returns a shocking verdict against a chemical company accused of dumping toxic waste into a small town’s water supply, causing the worst “cancer cluster” in history.
The company appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, whose nine justices will one day either approve the verdict—or reverse it.
The chemical company is owned by a Wall Street predator named Carl Trudeau, and Mr. Trudeau is convinced the Court is not friendly enough to his interests. With judicial elections looming, he decides to try to purchase himself a seat on the Court. The cost is a few million dollars, a drop in the bucket for a billionaire like Mr. Trudeau. Through an intricate web of conspiracy and deceit, his political operatives recruit a young, unsuspecting candidate. They finance him, manipulate him, market him, and mold him into a potential Supreme Court justice. Their Supreme Court justice.

1By Yona45So disappointed with this book. Yes I agree it's how politics work and the corruption is equally real. Painful and boring read. No fireworks or unexpected outcomes. I'm truly upset that I wasted my time on this one.Disappointing
1By Avid faneI can't begin to say how disappointed I am with this book. I should be able to get my money back. Shame on the author John Grisham for praying on his readers to make a political point. He took away the escape from the reality of our screwed up justice and political system! For what? What will it change? Do not pay for this book you will be greatly disappointed!Coul not finish the book
1By larrydkThis rant got sickening predictable, and I had to quit it. Same old story, rich are evil, poor are honest working folk. Rich have more money than God and use it to crush the humble poor. Come on...the world is just not that simple. Maybe Mr Gresham has a political agenda, or maybe this story line sells books, but I am tired of this.Great book!!
5By BenjaminSiegelThis book is so honest it's almost scary. I truly believe after reading this you'll have some insight as to how big cooperations handle these types of issues in the real world. You won't be disappointed!Another great courtroom drama
5By JSimas3744This book keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what the next move will be by the "great" Carl Trudeau & his evil empire. Grisham never fails to deliver a great story that leaves the reader wanting more...On the Mark!
5By Walter E Ross IIIAs a son of Biloxi, MS and the son of an attorney, city judge and county prosecutor You are one the money with this one. I often asked my father when I was younger why didn't he run for an office. He answer always the same "you're guilt by association". Not until he was gone and I am much older do I understand that only a few honest people can run for office and win. WER IIIYour basic
