Description
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • John Grisham is the acclaimed master of the legal thriller. Now, he’s back with his first-ever whodunit, even more suspenseful than his courtroom dramas, as a small-time lawyer accused of murder races to find the real killer to clear his name.
“A classic, compulsive, taut and thrilling novel from one of the great storytellers of our time. The Widow is John Grisham at his irresistible, unforgettable best.”—Chris Whitaker, author of All the Colors of the Dark
Simon Latch is a lawyer in rural Virginia, making just enough to pay his bills while his marriage slowly falls apart. Then into his office walks Eleanor Barnett, an elderly widow in need of a new will. Apparently, her husband left her a small fortune, and no one knows about it.
Once he hooks the richest client of his career, Simon works quietly to keep her wealth under the radar. But soon her story begins to crack. When she is hospitalized after a car accident, Simon realizes that nothing is as it seems, and he finds himself on trial for a crime he swears he didn’t commit: murder.
Simon knows he’s innocent. But he also knows the circumstantial evidence is against him, and he could spend the rest of his life behind bars. To save himself, he must find the real killer….

Another great courtroom novel.

4By Ky MotherI enjoyed the book, even though in the middle it really became slow.Take the money and run
1By de cocheUntil Mr. GRISHAM can get his mojo back, he needs to rest on his royalties. This was bordering on a non-readable book, sorry to say.One of Grisham’s best
5By EconCurmudgeonThis is Grisham’s best book since his early work, and maybe his best ever.Really, really good !!
4By Luft WaffeWhile I agree with many others that the ending could have been better, I absolutely loved this book. My hope is that there will be a follow-up, because the ending does leave you wanting a bit more.Pretty good not great
4By MisterponxEnjoyed it but the ending was less than desired. The Widow
5By Tuc110Great read!The Widow
5By ArtymusicianAnother outstanding book by this author. I was disappointed by the abrupt ending, though, and wanted the “loose ends” tied up. There is so much tabloid coverage that innocent people are “tried and convicted” by desperate journalists wanting sensational stories that are biased and misleading. Destroying an innocent person’s life and scarring that person’s family for life are collateral damage. This author is an outstanding story teller, and I’ve kept many of his books to read over and always enjoy.JG
5By Blossom's PrideThis was a great story. We’ll put together and characters well developed. I enjoyed it very much. John Grisham is a master story teller. BravoJohn Grisham is undoubtedly one of the best fiction writers of our generation.
5By BlkadrThis story was so believable and captivating, I literally couldn’t put it down. The Widow
3By 80heelSlow, tedious and not entirely satisfying. Not Grisham’s best work. The Review
4By Acura999I’ve read all of Grisham’s books. It’s been a while since I enjoyed one of his novels as much as this one. Interesting plot and a page turner. The ending was better than some of his previous works; however, he disappointed me again with a weak ending.True to form.
5By winds of change or renewalThis is an instant favorite by Mr. Grisham. It was ok.
3By Nikki@TCAIt took me awhile to read it. Not my favorite, it’s pretty forgettable. The Widow
2By TimmmmmsterHaven’t read a Grisham book in many years. Now I remember why. The pace was terrible, the characters undeveloped and unlikable, and it just wrapped up out of the blue.Perfect title!
5By STompkins66Loved The Widow. Had some twists and turns that I had not expected!A page turner of how the system can get it wrong, and
5By gymrat5513A fabulous read for sure! This Roller Coaster ride may start slow, But hold to the sides for a great ride
5By cecielphThe story starts out slow as we get to know Simon Latch. But once you reach the top of the slow climb, the twists and turns make a great story that will leave you smiling. Not a fan
3By DoublePatOk read, but the ending felt like it was out of left field, as if the author didn’t know where to go next.
