Description
When Walter Nash is recruited by the FBI to help bring down a global crime network his life is turned completely upside down in this thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci.
Nash is an intelligent man, tough but fair-minded. He has a wife and a daughter and a very high-level position at Sybaritic Investments, where his innate skills and dogged tenacity have carried him to the top of the pyramid in his business career. Despite never going on grand adventures, and always working too many hours, he has a happy and upscale life with his family.
However, following his estranged Vietnam-veteran father’s funeral, Nash is unexpectedly approached by the FBI in the middle of the night. They have an important request: become their inside man to expose an enterprise that is laundering large sums of money through Sybaritic. At the top of this illegal operation is Victoria Steers, an international criminal mastermind that the FBI has been trying to bring down for years.
Nash has little choice but to accept the FBI’s demands and try to bring Steers and her partners to justice. But when Steers discovers that Nash is working with the FBI, she turns the tables on him in a way he never could have contemplated. And that forces Nash to take the ultimate step both to survive and to take his revenge: He must become the exact opposite of who he has always been.
And even that may not be enough.

5By MLWMWMGreat book! Couldn’t put it down. With so many books you can skip pages or even a chapter and not miss anything but not this book.No ending? There must be a part 2
1By MinnesotaFatzOddNash I fell for it
3By Battery223Fairly decent read although completely unbelievable coincidences and plot line. Also half a book. Felt a little duped at the abrupt ending obviously leading into Hope rises.Unexpected
5By BBsStoreWell written and unexpected. Keeps you engaged to the very end!Nash Falls
3By Petepal1Interesting story but the ending was not really an ending per se. that was disappointing.Top Notch
5By BannieoakFound the story captivating and can’t wait to read the Devon part!Part of a story
4By Stout gradWhen will it endGreat book, but…
4By George in VirginiaWhile the plot and central characters are well developed, I don’t expect a book without an ending from David Baldacci. Sequels are fine and he has written a bunch of series like that, but to have to buy the sequel to find out how the first book ends is definitely not my preference.Nash Falls
5By AnnatexasFast moving and suspenseful. Couldn’t put it down! Excited for the sequel!Dissapointed
1By balduccifan1Because this book has no ending, the reader is left dangling and very upset. The idea of two separate books to be read at disparate times is ridiculous. mr. Baldacchino refusal to draw the various themes together is either due to a lazy writing technique or pursuit of more money in a second book.Kept me engaged.
5By KentsmGood, solid read. Kept me interested throughout even though the time line skipped ahead a couple of times (necessarily I may add). I didn’t expect the ending, but also won’t give it away here. I look forward to the next book with anticipation.SCAM alert…don’t buy this book
1By 1mauiboyDon’t Buy This Book !!! It is a scam…..the book is a TBC “To Be Continued” story. So, you pay full price for half of the story and then they want you to wait for a few months to pay full price yet again for the ending ! I am completely dismayed that the author (David Baldacci) and Grand Central Publishing/ Hachette Publishing would stoop so low with their deceit. Is it merely a sign of the times or just a weak attempt to increase profits ? SHAME ON YOU BOTH ! Sadly, I will not be suckered into buying the second half. “Fool me once”….Great book A+
5By Saratoga GeezerGreat story, good characters. Obviously needs a sequel. Can’t wait. Coming In AprilGood book, disappointing ending
3By you are trumping the systemAs usual well written.a little slow at times. But build nicely to a point I stayed up late last night to finish. Very, very disappointing ending that really requires you to read the sequel.Nash falls
